Differences between Duvets and Quilts
Quilts are made up of a decorated exterior layer sewn or quilted around some time type of insulation. The duvet on the other hand, is composed of feathers or other light materials enfolded in white casing.
These are often placed in a cover prior to being used.
Duvets and quilts come in sizes fit for twin, queen and king size mattresses. Both go down the foot and sides of the bed.
Advantages of Using Quilts
Quilts are smoother and flatter because the insulation is fastened in place. In contrast, duvets move inside the covers so they can appear messy. However, the duvet covers can be changed, allowing you more design options.
Designers often combine the quilt and duvet for the bed design. For example, you can put the quilt at the bed. Fold the duvet in thirds or half. Place them at the foot of the bed.

Bedspreads are not quilts or duvets. The bedspread is another kind of bed cover. They are constructed in the same way as a quilt but goes down at both sides. They also go down to the foot of the bed.
